|
| Monday 3rd October 2011 |
Herefordshire-based Supported Housing for Young People's Project (SHYPP), is one of three finalists in the Housing with Care category of The Great British Care Awards.
SHYPP, which is part of WM Housing Group, will be judged on the quality of its supported accommodation for homeless 16 to 25 year olds across Herefordshire, and the difference it makes to the lives of vulnerable young people who are affected by homelessness. |

As well as housing services, SHYPP offers holistic support to engage with young people in positive activities and facilitates access to interesting new opportunities. SHYPP seeks to help young people with a wide range of needs, including healthy living and increasing self confidence with a view to helping young people live independently and reduce the threat of homelessness.
The Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout England and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work. This year there are 9 regional awards leading to two national finals for both the home care and care home sectors, to be held at a prestigious central London venue in London in 2012.
The awards are all inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, as well as unpaid carers; promoting joint working.
SHYPP has also been nominated for its work with helping disadvantaged people back into work by customers at the Hereford Asda store. It is one of the three charities being put forward for customers to vote for and the winning charity will receive £200. |
