Women go green at recycled fashion show
|
| Wednesday 14th December 2011 |
Young women from two local supported housing schemes strutted their stuff on the catwalk at a recycled fashion show organised by Great Places Housing Group in conjunction with the Primary Care Trust Liverpool.
The eight budding designers/models, who are residents at Great Places' Rodney Street in Liverpool and Bluebell Court in St Helens, designed all the outfits for the show from scratch incorporating the themes of equality and diversity, recycling, and health and well-being, into their weird and wonderful creations.
The fashion show and well-being day was held at alcohol-free bar the Brink in Liverpool as part of Great Places' charity quarter, where residents and staff from across the business raise money for key charities. Staff raised a fantastic £4,040.32 which was matched by Great Places, totalling £8,080.64.
All materials for the outfits were kindly donated by family, friends and Great Places' staff. Raffle prizes were also provided by local businesses.
Julie Scahill, senior projects officer in supported housing at Great Places, said: "The girls were fantastic. The costumes they designed were incredibly creative and it took a lot for them to get up on that catwalk. The event was a huge success. Thanks to everyone involved. We look forward to an even bigger and better event next year." |
