West Wiltshire Housing Society changes name to Selwood Housing

Thursday 10th April 2008
West Wiltshire Housing Society has changed its name to Selwood Housing.

Selwood Housing will keep delivering services to tenants and customers in West Wiltshire but will also move to develop more homes and services beyond the district.

Chair of Selwood Housing John Alford said: \"We\'ve changed our name as a result of listening to comments from our tenants, and to help us provide new services and expand and build new houses in other areas.

\"The Board decided on Selwood Housing as our new name as it still has links to the area, but doesn\'t limit us to operating only in one district.\"

Chief executive Barry Hughes added: \"Now is the right time to change, we are progressing well on delivering the promises we made to our tenants when the homes transferred to us from the Council in 1996 and 2001 and our tenants\' and residents\' associations and tenant executive committee told us that tenants they spoke to wanted us to change our name.

\"We know that lots of people get us confused with West Wiltshire District Council. I hope that being called Selwood Housing will help us stop this confusion.

\"The use of Selwood Housing will be introduced in stages, as items are replaced, until October 2008, this allows the organisation to use up West Wiltshire Housing Society materials rather than throwing things away.\"

Selwood Housing\'s tenant group the tenant executive committee has also changed its name to Selwood Tenants\' Voice.
