We are in the running for a Top Regional Award
|
| Friday 26th October 2007 |
Worcester Community Housing is the running to receive a top regional award! We have been named on a shortlist of five housing associations that are competing for the Midlands Green Project/Initiative in the Community accolade at the annual Connecting People Awards.
Organised by the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS), together with Midlands Housing magazine, the Connecting People Awards have been designed to celebrate the achievements of tenants and housing associations all over the country.
The WCH nomination is for the innovative S.M.I.L.E. Fund. Short for Spending Money Improving Local Environments, the fund sees £25,000 set aside each year to help customers work together to make improvements to where they live.
WCH Housing Director Jean Hartley said: \"\"It is fantastic to see our S.M.I.L.E. fund up there with the best the region has to offer. As well as helping to create more attractive neighbourhoods the scheme also encourages customers to come together to improve where they live for the benefit of the whole community.\"
The results will be announced on 6th November at an award ceremony in Birmingham. Housing Association residents, tenant liaison officers and community groups from all over the Midlands will be there.
Similar events will be held in four other UK regions - North, South West, London and South East and Eastern. Regional winners will go forward to the national final which will be held during the TPAS 20th anniversary annual conference in August 2008. |
