Town & Country shortlisted for innovation award

Friday 3rd September 2010
Town & Country Housing Group has been selected as a finalist in the 2010 West Kent Business Excellence Awards.

Its low-carbon ‘demonstration home’ in Hawkhurst, Kent, has caught the judges’ eye in the Innovation section of the awards, which are promoted by the Courier Media Group.

The awards are designed to “recognise business leadership and achievement across West Kent and provide a platform upon which success can be celebrated”.

The low-carbon demonstration home has been built to trial new building techniques and the latest green technologies. Town & Country has set itself the twin goals of slashing residents’ fuel bills and cutting the carbon footprint of our homes.

The lessons learned will be used to bring similar benefits not just in other new homes but also in existing Town & Country hones that are ‘retrofitted’ with new technology.

Judges have already visited the house and met the residents. They also quizzed Acting Development Director Colin Lissenden and Design & Quality Manager Paul White about the aims and successes of the project.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Spa Hotel, Tunbridge Wells, on October 21. Town & Country is a past winner of the Best Training and Development category in these awards.
