Southdown HA's Chief Executive wins award

Brighton Southdown’s Chief Executive wins award.

Aideen Jones, CEO of Southdown Housing Association in Sussex, has won the Director of the Year Award for not-for-profit organisations in the South East sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Judges at the Institute of Directors had the tough task of selecting finalists from 300 nominations. They were particularly impressed with Southdown’s ability to re-invest resources to provide good quality services while ensuring that the company remained robust. The IoD South Regional Chairman, Robert Oxley said: “I’m thrilled to be able to congratulate such worthy winners and delighted by both the level and standard of entries that we received this year. They have surpassed even those of our initial awards in 2007. I'm also pleased we have again attracted many entries from outside the IoD’s membership – a further indication of the prestige of the IoD Director of the Year awards, as well as proof of just how dynamic business is in the South East.”

Aideen Jones took over as CEO six years ago when the turnover was just £6m. Now the organisation helps more than 1800 vulnerable people across Sussex and has an annual turnover of £14m. .

Southdown are no strangers to awards and have won several others including the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For. Aideen said about the award: "It’s a real honour to win this award as there was some tough competition. Although this is an individual award, I was nominated because of the fantastic work our 450 staff undertake each day. I am very privileged to lead such an amazing organisation and couldn’t have achieved it without the people we support and Southdown’s staff so thank you to all of these people.”
