Soha's sheltered housing given national quality mark
|
| Tuesday 10th March 2009 |
Oxfordshire Housing Association, Soha Housing, has been awarded use of a prestigious, externally assessed 'kite mark', for its housing-related support
services in sheltered housing.
CSHS (sheltered housing accreditors) Code of Practice status is awarded to those housing providers who, over the course of more than a year, consistently deliver their services to, or exceeding, nationally agreed standards.
Internal policies as well as day-to-day practice were examined, says Maureen Adams, Director of Customer Services and Operations, adding, "This accreditation means a great deal to Soha, as our Scheme Managers provide a
very personal and caring service to older people living in our 36 sheltered housing schemes. The accreditor in particular commented on how well we had involved residents in decisions about their individual schemes, borne out by
the fact that recently 92% of our sheltered housing residents indicated they were satisfied with our service."
She continued: "Our service to vulnerable clients has received this national accolade for the coming 3 years.
The process of having the way we work examined by some of the supported housing sector's expert practitioners gave us
the opportunity to benchmark ourselves against our peers."
Richard Hurst, a tenant in one of Soha's sheltered housing schemes and Chair of Soha's Seniors' Group, said: "It's a real boost for the Scheme Managers who provide the day-to-day management of Soha's sheltered housing. I think all residents really feel involved in the service."
Soha Housing, the largest sheltered housing provider in Oxfordshire, is the only older person's support service provider in Oxfordshire to gain re-accreditation to
the CSHS Code of Practice for Housing-related Support this year. |
