Southern Quarter’s first residents were welcomed to their new home on Monday 6 July. Juraj Dencek and Lenka Dekarcikova have moved into a brand new two bedroom apartment at South Wight Housing Association’s (SWHA) new development at Oakfield.
One hundred and forty-nine homes are being built at the Southern Quarter, creating an attractive village setting that will regenerate the local area. The development will offer a range of houses and apartments and a combination of tenures, including open market sale, general needs rent and intermediate rent, to accommodate a wide range of needs.
Juraj, a team leader at a residential retirement home, and Lenka, a care worker for Leonard Cheshire, were welcomed to their home by Regional Operations Manager, Phil Conway, who presented them with flowers and champagne to toast their new home.
Juraj said: “Lenka and I love our new home. Our two bedroom apartment is spacious and has a modern feel with contemporary lines and natural materials. We enjoy great views across the downs and it’s very well situated for shopping in Ryde and for walks on the coast.”
Phil said: “I’m delighted to welcome Juraj and Lenka to their new home and am excited to see the Southern Quarter develop. My colleagues on site, Resident Liaison officer, Patricia Mitchell, and Resident Services Manager, Julia Curtis, work within the community to ensure that good relationships are maintained with new and neighbouring residents as the area develops. Patricia is always at the site during the week. If you’re interested in taking a look around, feel free to arrange a visit.”
South Wight Housing Association, part of Southern Housing Group, is the largest provider of housing on the Isle of Wight, owning and managing over 3,000 properties. |
