Rykneld customers to have more choice in renting a home
|
| Tuesday 18th December 2007 |
Rykneld Homes has launched a brand new way to rent homes, offering more choice to customers.
Rykneld Homes will regularly advertise properties available in the area in a newsletter and on a special website and residents will be able to bid for properties. The system means customers can also view properties available from local housing associations.
The idea of the scheme is to allow customers to take the initiative in expressing an interest in specific properties, rather than having to wait for a home to be allocated.
North Wingfield resident, Maureen Ridley, was one of the first to sign up for Choice Move information at the launch on November 30th.
Maureen, 63, lives with husband Brent in their own home, but is keen move into a bungalow. She said: “I think it is brilliant; I’m going to look forward to receiving the newsletters to see what’s out there. It will encourage me to look further afield. It gives more control when looking for a home.”
Julie Marriott, Solutions and Support Manager at Rykneld Homes, said: “Choice Move is a completely different approach to allocating housing which gives customers more choice over where they live. The scheme will enable applicants to see the properties that are available and bid for them.”
After completing an application form, customers will be placed in a band which includes emergency need, priority, moderate need and general need. They can then bid for properties that are advertised.
Rykneld Homes hope other partners operating locally will join the scheme during 2008, eventually making Choice Move a one-stop shop when looking for social housing in the district. |
