Rooftop recognised in Audit Commission's Housing Excellence Awards 2009

Rooftop Housing Group is today celebrating the news that Evesham and Pershore Housing Association, the founder association of the group, has been awarded a three star 'excellent' rating by the Audit Commission.
Every year the Audit Commission recognises the achievements of housing organisations that obtained the highest judgement possible in an inspection during the previous year.
The Housing Excellence Awards are held to coincide with the Chartered Institute of Housing's annual conference, this year in Harrogate. The winning three star and excellent organisations have all demonstrated that, in the areas inspected, they provide services where strengths significantly outweigh any weaknesses. Only four per cent of housing inspections since 2000 have achieved this score.
This year the Awards were presented by Housing Minister John Healey, who said: 'These awards are well-earned. They are testament to the practical housing help these organisations offer day in day out, that makes such a difference to people's lives. A key priority for me as Housing Minister is to ensure committed professionals like these get the support they need to continue doing a great job.'
The winning organisations were:
* Evesham and Pershore Housing Association (Rooftop Housing Group)
* Homes for Islington
* Poole Housing Partnership
* Sandwell Homes
* Northwards Housing
* Gateshead Housing Company
* Berneslai Homes
The Group's Chief Executive Ian Hughes said everyone connected with the organisation was delighted with the inspection result. "We have always strived for excellence and set ourselves the highest possible standards and so it is fantastic to have our efforts recognised in such glowing terms by the Audit Commission. In recent years we have really focussed on achieving our key objectives and the three-star rating is therefore a welcome acknowledgement of our success. Of course, none of this would have happened without the hard work and commitment of the people at Rooftop and also our residents who have supported us in what we have done and what we are trying to do. Equally, it's a result of our work with, and the support of, all of our partner organisations whom we also thank."
Audit Commission Chief Executive Steve Bundred said: "The organisations that receiving their awards today are delivering excellent housing services to their tenants and residents. They make a real difference to the lives of people that live in their communities." |
