Community regeneration is a great source of pride to us here at Riverside. We know that a successful project is about more than simply bricks and mortar - it's about sustaining and developing the wider community. That's why our Your Place team take great pride in their work.
Your Place services have been designed to combat what concerns the community most about their neighbourhood and work with local partners on projects to enhance life chances and the local environment.

The team in Carlisle have now completed works at Toronto Park, Currock as part of the renewal of the park, a project championed by city councillor Abdul Harid.
The Your Place Team has been working in Botcherby over the last year and has now extended the service they offer to Currock and Longtown.
Your Place team leader Chris Tilbury said “It is great to see a neglected green space come back to life as a community facility. Litter and fly tipping had been identified as an on-going problem in the area in addition to the poor state of repair of fencing and equipment. The team has worked hard to clean up this park, repaint play equipment, build fencing and remove graffiti, the materials were supplied by the council.
Councillor Heather Bradley said “As councillors we do have access to a small pot of money. By working in partnership with Riverside we can achieve more with this funding for our communities.”
Last week Riverside carried out community consultation in Currock to find out residents thought of their area and how it could be improved.
The findings will be shared with councillors and residents and inform local neighbourhood plans. Local councillors are hoping to draw down funding for projects in the community.
Councillor Harid said” Finding out what the community wants is key- with limited funding available to the local council it is important we know what matters so we can look to direct funding to support local facilities and projects.” |
