Reeling in the money
|
| Friday 6th January 2012 |
Youngsters at a Doncaster fishing club have reeled in £200 to help keep them active!
Members of the Rossington Kingfishers clinched the cash from St Leger Homes of Doncaster - the organisation that manages around 21,000 homes for Doncaster Council. The money is from the housing company's positive activities fund - money used to keep young people busy, active and healthy and as a way of stamping out anti-social behaviour.
The money will now be used to go towards buying more fishing tackle and towards transport to take the youngsters to competitions at ponds further afield.
Malc Clark, chairman of the fishing club, said: "This money will help us a lot. We are wanting to raise £1,000 to help run the club and this £200 is a great boost."
The club caters for young people up to the age of 16.
The club, who fish at Rossington Brick Pond, off Churchfields Road, are also looking for new young members. Anyone interested in joining should ring Malc on 07769712432.
