Proud to be First Illegal Money Lending Campaign Partner in Somerset!

Homes in Sedgemoor have been declared the first official Stop Loan Sharks Campaign Partner in Somerset by the England Illegal Money Lending Team!
As a partner Homes in Sedgemoor will be working to reel in people who may fall prey to loan sharks. Alongside the England Illegal Money Lending Team, which became a national team in April 2011, they have been promoting awareness and where to get help to customers through events, training and promotional activities.
Homes in Sedgemoor want people to be aware of loan sharks and promote their local Credit Union as a safe and reliable lender. Staff at the organisation have received specialist training from the England Illegal Money Lending Team, and are now poised and ready to support customers and spot when a loan shark may be operating in an area.
Dawn Lang, Director of Resources, said: 'Sadly in the current financial climate, loan sharks are more prevalent than ever. As people struggle with increasingly high bills and banks refuse loans to those with poor credit ratings, illegal lenders can seem like the only option. People often end up suffering in silence and fear, but our team is in a position to spot these people and reach out to them. We are committed to working with the Illegal Money Lending Team and are delighted to have been confirmed a Stop Loan Sharks Campaign partner.'
