Progress Housing Group given Top Marks by Regulator
|
| Thursday 13th August 2009 |
Leyland based Progress Housing Group has received top marks from Government regulator, the Tenant Services Authority (TSA), following an assessment completed in July.
The TSA is the Government's regulator of Social Housing. The Regulatory Judgement is a report that has been compiled to assist the TSA in its statutory duty of the regulation of Registered Social Landlords.
The report has set out the TSA's view of Progress as a housing organisation according to three indicators: that it is viable; properly governed; and properly managed.
Progress achieved praise in all three areas with the TSA recognising that their expectations had been met, and in some cases exceeded, by the organisation.
The report states: "PHG is meeting TSA expectations on management. It is committed to providing good quality homes and services and makes a significant contribution towards assisting local authorities to fulfil their duties to various groups of vulnerable people."
On the 2006 Audit Commission inspection, the TSA commented: "The inspectors praised several aspects of the Group's service including its approach to anti-social behaviour, the high quality housing support services provided to help residents live independently in the community and the strong emphasis on making estates sustainable places where people want to live."
The TSA also chose to praise the work that the Group does on anti-social behaviour: "PHG has recognised anti-social behaviour as a significant challenge and has developed a response based around prevention and control. It has developed a community investment strategy and has set up partnerships with the police and other agencies aimed at combating the causes of anti-social behaviour."
Chief Executive of Progress Housing Group, Jacqui De-Rose, said: "We are pleased that Progress Housing Group is recognised as a financially strong organisation, which is properly governed and well managed.
"We are very customer focused and always listen to customer feedback to improve services. As a result our tenant satisfaction levels are high and tenants are very involved in running all aspects of our business. This is a great result for tenants, staff and partners, who are at the centre of the many achievements of Progress Housing Group". |
