| Wednesday 28th April 2010 |
MHS homes waved a fond farewell to a well loved Director recently as Terry Burton retired after working for the company for over twenty five years.
Terry has been with mhs homes since its creation in 1990 - prior to that he worked for Rochester upon Medway Council from 1984. He originally joined the company as Personnel Manager and then in 1996 he was promoted to the post of Administration Director & Secretary.
Terry is married to Margaret and is the proud father of three children. He said, "I've really enjoyed my time at mhs homes and have been fortunate enough to see the company grow from strength to strength. I was involved in the repositioning of the business and the move which saw the mhs homes group relocate from six locations in Medway to Broadside, Chatham Maritime which now sees all our employees under one roof. I will miss working here and all my colleagues but I'm looking forward to becoming a grandparent for the first time and doing a bit of travelling and gardening."
Staff Board Member, Zoe Turner presented Terry with a Retirement Accessory Kit from staff. She said, "Terry is a popular man who has helped and supported many of us during our time at mhs homes. The staff wanted to do a collection for him to show their appreciation. We got him a collection of items, some humorous and some to help with his new hobbies. The kit included a flat cap, sing-a-long-a max tape, a bee keeping book and a pair of new slippers, his dog chewed his last pair! We also treated him to a family portrait photo."
Chief Executive of mhs homes, Ashley Hook said, "Terry is a great team player and has been a key part of the team that has driven mhs homes forward since its inception. Since 1990, Terry's job has changed enormously and his role expanded as the organisation has grown. His tremendously committed approach has been inspirational to all of us and he has made an outstanding contribution to mhs homes. His caring nature, dedication, enthusiasm and hard work will be greatly missed by all of us." |
