Plastic pipes help save money, reduce crime and help the environment

Saving cash, reducing crime and helping the environment are in the pipeline in Doncaster, thanks to a new initiative from a housing organisation.
St. Leger Homes of Doncaster – the organisation that manages homes for Doncaster Council – are now installing plastic pipes, rather than copper ones, when installing new heating installations.
Installing plastic pipes makes the job easier and quicker resulting in the heating system around £300 cheaper per home to install. It also helps support the local business economy and is environmentally friendly because it is supplied from Doncaster plastic piping systems manufacturer, Polypipe.
Andy Rowe, a business manager at St. Leger Homes, said: “It’s a win-win situation. Not only does it mean we save money and cut crime but it makes the company ‘greener’. This is because the pipes are being bought from a local company, meaning they are easy to collect and are not being transported from miles away.”
Mark Devanney from Polypipe said: “Today there is a growing recognition of the need to install more environmentally sustainable product systems. Polypipe's piping systems are lightweight in transport and energy efficient in their manufacture and performance.
“We are particularly delighted to be working in partnership with St. Leger Homes in delivering these benefits in the local Doncaster area.” |
