Planning Approved for Rose Hill
|
| Friday 9th November 2007 |
Oxford City Council's Planning Committee resolved to grant full planning permission for the redevelopment of Rose Hill in Oxford. Rose Hill is the regeneration project that OCHA has been working on for several years now.
The regeneration will involve the demolition of 97 Orlit type properties on Rose Hill, as well as six privately owned former council properties, and Alice & Margaret House a 55 Plus housing scheme.
This will mean the construction of a total of 254 new homes, with 101 social rented housing, 40 shared ownership & 113 homes for private sale. The project also includes the construction of a new sheltered housing scheme to provide 26 one and two bedroom flats for older residents who need support.
As part of the regeneration there will be funds available for use on the local Community Centre and local education & training initiatives.
The partners in the project are Oxford City Council, Oxford Citizens Housing Association and developer Taylor Wimpey.
Councillor Patrick Murray, Executive Member for Improving Housing, says: "The residents of Rose Hill will be pleased that this important scheme can now start and they can look forward to moving into their new homes.
"Regenerating Oxford's estates is one of the biggest challenges and I am delighted we can finally move ahead."
Jonathan Higgs, Chief Executive of OCHA, says: "The residents of Rose Hill have waited a long time to see this day, and many of them have committed a great deal of their own time and effort to make sure the redevelopment meets the community's needs. OCHA, Taylor Wimpey, and Oxford City Council couldn't have done it without their contribution.
"We look forward to continuing to work with the community throughout the delivery of this exciting scheme." |
