Pie and Peas are on the menu!

| Monday 2nd August 2010 |
Hot pie and peas were served up at an Edlington community centre thanks to a kind donation.
Residents living around Howbeck Drive Community Centre are now able to cook up a storm in their brand new kitchen: donated and installed by social housing contactor Bramall Construction.
The community centre, which acts as a base for several Brownies and Guides groups in the area, is a hub for the local community who use it regularly to hold tenants' and residents' association meetings and to host bingo afternoons.
Bramall staff were on hand to serve pie and peas cooked in the new kitchen and to launch the use of the new facilities which include a cooker, new fridge and a new window and door.
Bramall, who’s head office is near Mexborough, also re-tiled the kitchen and installed new cabinets and work surfaces.
Dylan Gelder, Community Liaison Support Manager at Bramall said: “The old kitchen was in a bad state. We thought the new kitchen would put the finishing touch to the work we have done to homes in the community and it was great to see the smiling faces of local people.
“I’m sure the community centre will continue to be enjoyed by many community groups in the area for years to come and we wish them every success.”
Bramall Construction is working in the area alongside St Leger Homes, the organisation that is working across Doncaster to carry out a range of improvements on the borough’s council homes.
Susan Jordan, chief executive of St Leger Homes, added: “It’s great to see contractors carrying out improvement work like this in community centres. What Bramall Construction has done will benefit tenants and residents in this area for many years to come.” |
