Paradigm's involved residents recognised
|
| Saturday 9th July 2011 |
Paradigm's Resident Awards 2011 celebrated volunteers who have made a real difference by getting involved with the organisation, or helping their neighbours and communities.
All Paradigm residents were invited to attend the event at Uplands Hotel near High Wycombe on 5 July. Worthy winners received their awards from Chief Executive Alison Hadden, who thanked all involved residents for the time they spent working with Paradigm. She said that Paradigm is committed to working with its residents to improve services, saying: "You now you're making a real difference and we know you are making a real difference. "
Residents helped to organise the event and Resident Board Member Iain Foster-Poole introduced other residents who spoke about their experience of getting involved.
Lyn Ives, who Paradigm staff now know as a confident and challenging Resident Board member, remembered first hearing about resident involvement when she was in tears, talking to her housing officer about rent arrears.
Jean Butler talked about the training and support she received when becoming a resident auditor. Local residents' group also fed back their experiences and achievements.
During a break, the crowd was entertained by Glyn Davis, who until recently lived at Paradigm's Hatfield Foyer for homeless young people. Glyn is now Manager of Alter Ego Dance Company in Hatfield and he came 12th in the
Streetdance Internationals at the O2 Arena in London on 15 May. He will soon feature in the film Streetdance 4. |
