We are on track to install photovoltaic panels on 1,100 of our properties by the beginning of December. This will make us the largest provider of PV panels in the UK!
Steve Drew, Alliance Homes Director, said, "This is great news for us and our tenants, who will save around £250 a year on electricity.
As well as putting panels on a large number of homes, we have also installed them on our office at Harbour Court in Portishead, which is now generating enough energy to be completely sefl-sufficient."
Mr and Mrs Weston, of Coxway, Clevedon, were among the first to get the photovoltaic panels. Mr Weston said, "This is an excellent scheme and anything that saves us money is a bonus. It is amazing to think that 20 years ago, we wouldn't have thought it possible to get free electricity from the sun!"
We have set up a framework to make it easier for other housing associations to purchase the photovoltaic panels. So far, six housing associations have accessed our framework, and many more have shown interest in joining. |
