Our latest extra care scheme in Maida Vale is now open
|
| Tuesday 1st June 2010 |
Our latest extra-care scheme, Leonora House, is now officially open; the first older person moved into their home on the 8 February with the other residents gradually moving in over the weeks following this.
The scheme comprises of 21 self-contained flats for older people, some of whom have dementia or a learning disability. 24 hour care is offered on site for those residents who need it through a staff team of 20 people. However, the design of the scheme offers them the choice of spending time in both shared and individual areas as they choose, enabling residents to keep their independence, dignity and choice.
A local Age Concern centre for older people has been built into scheme at ground level, providing a space for the over 50s to socialise and enjoy facilities such as a hairdressers, an IT suite and exercise and treatment rooms.
The scheme is due to have its official opening by Westminster Council in the summer when all of the residents have settled into their new homes. |
