Operations Director retires after 32 years in housing

Tuesday 21st December 2010
After 32 years in housing, Gallions Housing Association's current Director of Operations, Alison Breese, will be taking early retirement; her last day will be Thursday 23rd December. At a staff presentation on 15th December, Gallions Chief Executive, Tony Cotter, thanked Alison for her contribution to housing and for her time spent with the organisation.

Mr Cotter said: "Alison is a universally popular and well known figure in housing. I would like to pay tribute to her contribution to the sector and thank her for all she has helped Gallions achieve. I certainly wish her a long and happy retirement."

Alison will continue to be involved in housing through the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and is a CIH Trustee on the board of HouseMark. She will no doubt see colleagues at future events such as the South East CIH conference in Brighton.

Alison joined Gallions Housing Association in January 2005 as Director of Operations. Prior to this, she was Assistant Director of Community Services at Medway Council. A huge part of her career has been spent in local government. In 1987 Alison became Housing Development Officer (her first move into senior management) with Gillingham Borough Council. Three years later she joined Rochester City Council as a Strategy Officer and was later promoted to the post of Assistant City Environment Manager. Alison left Rochester City Council in 1998 to Join Medway.

Alison is a council member of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and sits on their policy board. She is on the Institution's South East Branch Committee and represents them at national level CIH meetings.

She is also the former Chair and current company secretary of the Disabled Persons Accommodation Agency charity in Kent and a former member of the South East Regional Housing Forum and Regional Assembly Working Group on Affordable Housing.

Gallions Housing Association currently owns and manages 5,600 homes across South and East London offering a range of general needs, shared ownership, sheltered housing and other services.
