New Year's treat for carers
|
| Monday 27th December 2010 |
The dedicated team at a Sanctuary Care home in Stepney are inviting carers in the local community to take advantage of a few hours' free respite care for their loved one so that they can take a well earned break.
On Thursday January 27th, between 10am and 2pm, Hawthorn Green Care Home will be opening its doors to elderly people who are currently cared for at home to give their carers a few hours to themselves.
Manager of the care home in Redman's Road, Sally Kalaiarasu said: "Christmas is a wonderful time of year but can leave carers burnt out with exhaustion as they struggle to care for their loved one and overcome the hype of Christmas.
"We often see cases where people who care for a relative, spouse or friend round-the-clock at home are physically and emotionally exhausted and have reached breaking point. This is when we see people coming to our home for emergency respite, because their carers simply feel unable to cope with the pressure put on them.
"We are giving carers in our community the chance to have some precious hours to themselves, to do some shopping or simply enjoy some 'me time' while the person they care for enjoys some time in our beautiful home."
During the complimentary respite day the dedicated team at Hawthorn Green will offer a wide range of stimulating activities, including singing sessions, baking and arts and crafts, with a delicious homemade lunch.
Please book early to avoid disappointment - to find out more please call Client Relations Manager Camilla Robinson on 0207 7027788 or email Camilla.robinson@sanctuary-housing.co.uk
