New homes for villagers are launched

Tuesday 2nd August 2011
Ten farmstead-style homes were officially launched today at Buckland Newton, near Dorchester.

Magna's development team helped the Buckland Newton Community Property Trust to obtain the grants to build the houses at Lydden Meadow for local people.

The houses have been subsidised by grants from the Homes and Communities Agency, West Dorset District Council and the Tudor Trust.

Five of them are being rented and five are shared ownership, with residents moving in on Monday.

The trust, comprising volunteers from the parish, has spent many years working with the community and local organisations to create the development on an exception site at the edge of the village.

The homes were built by CG Fry and Son.

MHA is managing Lydden Meadow for the trust when the houses are occupied.
