New homes are inreach
|
| Monday 21st September 2009 |
We have helped a local couple from Market Drayton to get onto the property ladder through our shared ownership scheme inreach.
Michael Huyton and his partner Laura Dobson have been renting one of the Trust's new apartments at Longslow Road in Market Drayton but have now been given the opportunity to move into a two-bedroom home on the same site. The couple will be moving into the home under the 'rent now, buy later' scheme which enables customers to rent a property until a time when they are in a position to purchase a share.
The Trust's inreach scheme was recently named as a finalist in the CIH UK Housing Awards for 'Meeting housing needs and aspirations in a changing market'.
Michael said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for us to move into a quality house in the location we want, with the opportunity to buy a share at a later date. The Wrekin Housing Trust has been really helpful and we are looking forward to moving in and getting settled into our new home."
The property that Michael and his partner will be moving to is one of four houses that the Trust has at the Longslow Road site for shared ownership and rent.
A further nine properties will also be available next year for affordable rent through the Trust's lettings system which can be found at www.chooseyourhome.org.uk.
As well as these homes, the Trust already has over 25 properties in Market Drayton, and is continuing to provide homes in Shrewsbury, Whitchurch, Wem, Ellesmere and other locations in Shropshire and Staffordshire.
George Rushgrove, Director of Business Development at the Trust, said: "The Trust is committed to providing high quality, affordable, energy efficient housing in Shropshire and the Market Drayton development is another good example of this, as well as showing that there are opportunities to get onto the property ladder even in these difficult financial times."
The Wrekin Housing Trust, now in its tenth anniversary year, recently achieved Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes for another of its developments and has been nominated for the Sustainable Housing Awards. The Trust also won the Customer Service Award at the 2009 Shropshire Business Awards.
