New Chair Appointed at East Durham Homes

Keith Gallagher has been appointed as the Chair of East Durham Homes Board following the retirement of the current Chair David Taylor-Gooby.

David Taylor-Gooby has been the Chair of the Board at East Durham Homes since March 2006 and feels it is a good time for him to stand down as chair but will remain on the board as one of the five Council board members. David said “It is best for an ALMO (Arms Length Management Organisation) that the Chair is not a Councillor; therefore I have decided to stand down. We have made progress and I am confident that the company is now in good shape and I felt it was a good time to hand over.”

The Board duly elected Keith Gallagher as the new Chair at a board meeting held on the 11th October. Keith has been a board member since the start of East Durham Homes, originally as a Council Board member until June 2006 when he stood down, he then re applied to be an Independent Board member and was appointed in July 2006. Keith was formally the Chief Financial Officer of the District of Easington, therefore his financial background and knowledge will be a valuable asset to the company.

Keith said “After recent set backs we are now in a position to move the company forward. EDH is committed to improving services to tenants and I am looking forward to working on behalf of tenants to ensure that they are at the forefront of all decisions.”
