Neighbourhood Plans Launched
|
| Monday 29th March 2010 |
LMH is committed to creating neighbourhoods where customers choose to live and want to stay. This means more than just improving your homes and the services that we can provide. We have begun this process by producing Neighbourhood Plans for the 29 neighbourhoods across our stock.
What are neighbourhoods?
They are a geographical split of our stock into defined areas. LMH stock is widely spread in some areas and this meant we had to combine some of the smaller communities into neighbourhoods.
How were the neighbourhoods decided?
The Regeneration and Asset Management Team met with tenants, tenant Board/ Area Board members and Housing Staff to agree the neighbourhood boundaries. We then consulted with customers at Tenant and Leaseholder forums and at the Area Board meetings to make sure that we have got it right.
How can I find out which neighbourhood I live in?
We have produced a map and a list of addresses in each neighbourhood which are available here.
What are neighbourhood plans?
They describe what is good about a neighbourhood and also what problems the neighbourhood has that affect the quality of life for our customers.
How do LMH know what the issues are?
LMH gathered some of this information from statistics, including crime figures, rent arrears, demand for our properties and worklessness. However, we wanted to make sure that we knew exactly what is happening in your neighbourhood. To do this we:
* Sent out questionnaires to all active resident groups and a sample of customers and leaseholders to gather information about their experience of their neighbourhood
* Interviewed LMH housing staff, Customer Involvement Officers and Safer Estates Officers to gather the valuable knowledge they have about the neighbourhoods
* Took customers, staff, Board members and resident group members on a 'bus tour' of each neighbourhood. This gave us a much more detailed understanding of the issues such as anti-social behaviour, the appeal of the neighbourhood and the amenities available to residents.
What will LMH do with this information?
The plans include 'interventions' these are projects that LMH or other organisations can undertake to improve your neighbourhood. We will measure how effective they are.
In the delivery of the Neighbourhood Plan interventions we will also work with partners to "promote social, environmental and economic wellbeing in the areas where the properties are". |
