NHF Chief visits Minster

Wednesday 5th March 2008
Minster recently welcomed the Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation, David Orr, to its offices and on a tour of Minster schemes.

Minster, part of The Hyde Group, has been operating in the area for 43 years and the visit highlighted the association's success as a social landlord. Mr Orr visited Minster's first major development in 1976, 152 homes in Deerleap, (Bretton) and also the nearby new development, The Deanery, which will encompass some Minster homes for shared ownership. The tour then visited Tuckers Court in Stanground, before finishing with afternoon tea and a game of curling with the elderly residents of Snowhills in Yaxley.

David Orr said: "It has been an interesting and fun day visiting Minster and especially getting to meet some of their residents. Housing management is often underrated, but what I have seen today demonstrates how important good quality housing management is and Minster is delivering an excellent level of service to its residents.

"Minster is also well positioned both financially and organisationally to take advantage of the huge opportunities for growth in the housing sector in this area."

Minster Managing Director, Steve Wilson said: "It was an honour for us to host this visit by the National Housing Federation and show them a little more about Peterborough and how Minster is delivering services locally.

"Minster strives to deliver the best in new homes, providing excellent services to our residents and creating thriving communities. We are delighted that David Orr was able to visit some of our schemes and meet Minster residents, and see firsthand the positive impact we are having on the local area."

Minster owns or manages more then 1800 properties across the east of England and the east midlands regions and has flourished since becoming part of The Hyde Group two years ago. The local registered social landlord operates effectively using local knowledge and expertise, whilst also utilising the financial backing and resources of a much larger organisation.
