Moat transfers homes to New World Housing Association
|
| Thursday 10th June 2010 |
In April 2010 Moat transferred nine apartments on Knollys Road in Streatham, South London to New World Housing Association. The block comprises 3 x one bedroom and 6 x two bedroom apartments.
The transfer of these homes is part of a larger stock rationalisation programme which aims to transfer 1,500 homes outside Moat’s core operating areas to other housing associations over the next three years. In local authority areas where Moat has few properties, a locally based organisation is in a much better position to provide a higher level of customer service to residents.

Prior to receiving tenders, Moat consulted Knollys Road residents about what issues would be important to them in the selection of a new landlord. Their responses were factored into the tender requirements so that the assessment panel could judge the extent to which bidders took these into account.
Moat wanted to ensure that they found the right housing association to take ownership of the Knollys Road properties. To this end, all organisations who submitted tenders to buy these homes in October 2009 had to demonstrate that they would provide a high level of customer service. Their service offer was judged by an assessment panel that included residents from the homes affected by the rationalisation programme. The bidders had to convince the panel that they would provide a high quality, accessible and resident focussed service to those living at Knollys Road. New World Housing Association demonstrated outstanding levels of current customer satisfaction and was selected as the preferred bidder. Residents were then consulted again on the specific proposal to transfer to New World Housing Association.
Brian Johnson, Moat’s chief executive, says; “Moat is dedicated to providing the best possible service to our residents. We recognise that in an area where we have few homes, this can mean transferring ownership to a more locally based organisation. We are delighted that New World Housing Association was selected as the preferred bidder. Their impressive levels of customer satisfaction and knowledge of Streatham and the surrounding area puts them in an excellent position to deliver the highest quality of customer service to Knollys Road residents.”
Ian Weightman, chief executive of New World Housing Association, says; “We are thrilled to have been chosen as the selected bidder for Knollys Road. We will ensure that residents receive the same high quality of customer service that we offer all of our 1,000 residents throughout South London. The transfer of these homes fits perfectly with the original aims of our organisation, which have not changed since we started over 20 years ago – to provide high standards of housing and services to local communities.” |
