Magna Housing Group spliced the mainbrace to mark its 8888th home milestone last week.

The group, which has properties across Dorset, Somerset and Devon, celebrated at Number 8 Great Mead, on the new Wyndham Park development in Yeovil. The shared ownership home was built on Plot 88.
So with the alliteration of all the eights and the fact that many of the new streets are named after explorers and seafarers, the event took a pirate theme.
Local scouts, cubs and beavers from the Great Lyde Scout Group joined in the celebrations, wearing pirate hats and giving guests an insight into their weekly activities, including survival skills, map reading and cake decorating.
Magna will be working with the scouts to help them refurbish their much-used hall, which is just a short distance away from Wyndham Park.
Magna's chairman, Donald Rushton, said: "It's lovely to be celebrating our 8888th home with these young people. The scout leaders do a terrific job and we're pleased that we can support them in a practical way.
"Magna is hoping to secure around 150 homes on the development so I am sure our residents' children will be using this hall."
Magna's 8888th home forms part of the Wyndham Park development which is being undertaken by Barratt Homes, Bloor Homes and David Wilson Homes.
Both Barratt and David Wilson Homes will be building affordable houses for Magna. The overall development will be in excess of 800 homes, plus a school and public open space.
The 96 dwellings MHA has secured so far have been assisted by just over £5.5m in funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), just over £500,000 from South Somerset District Council (SSDC) and £4.8m from its own resources. |
