Celebrations to mark 65 years of care and support for older people were held throughout the UK by MHA homes, housing and community projects on 29 February 2008. Residents enjoyed parties, gala dinners, music events and dedication services. A history book '65 Years in the Making, the Unfolding Story of MHA' was specially commissioned to mark the occasion.
An event was also held in the House of Lords, hosted by Lord Archer of Sandwell, Patron of the charity, MHA. Special guests included Dame Denise Platt, Chair of the Commission for Social Care Inspection, who reported that the voluntary sector continues to provide better services than others. Sister Marjorie Whitfield, tenant at MHA's Walcot Court housing scheme in Bath and former MHA Board Member, told of the difference MHA had made to her life.
Roger Davies, MHA Chief Executive says, "65 years on, MHA continues to deliver a special service to growing numbers of older people. Our celebrations mark the achievements of so many volunteers, donors and staff who continue to support MHA's work and enable older people to live life to the full." |
