Longhurst Homes credit crunching Income Team

Tuesday 10th February 2009
With a significant increase in calls coming into the Longhurst Homes Income team over the past few months, they are now sending out fact sheets to tenants who may be in difficulties during the current financial climate.

The leaflets can also help people to make sure they are claiming the correct benefits and that they are receiving all that they are entitled to. As well as having this leaflet the Income team are as usual manning the phones from 8am to 6pm for all enquiries and queries.

Paula Caunt Senior Income Officer commented,"As well as being able to take peoples queries over the phone, we wanted to send out advice and guidance to those who may not realise that they can save money. Also for some people picking up the phone is not easy especially when it is about sensitive issues, and they may prefer to read something. We urge all of our customers to give us a call if they require further information though"

This is just one example of how the Income Team are currently helping their tenants during the current financial climate. The team also offer a home and telephone service to ensure they are receiving the correct benefits, how to manage a budget and tackle debt plus how to access low cost gas, electricity and home contents insurance. They will also arrange support for people who might need short term assistance with managing their tenancy. The Community Vehicle will also be out visiting schemes throughout February to speak to residents and raise awareness of how the Income Team can help.
