Liverpool landlord increases their housing stock again
|
| Thursday 3rd December 2009 |
South Liverpool Housing (SLH) have increased their housing stock for the second time in the past 2 months by purchasing 17 properties in Garston. This comes just weeks after acquiring 179 homes from Servite Houses in September 2009.
SLH purchased these properties, which are based on Church Road in Garston, from Arena Housing. The purchase echoes the requirements of the Tenant Services Authority (TSA) who issued a report on stock rationalisation in February this year. The report calls for housing associations to examine their stock and achieve efficiencies by streamlining the ownership and management of their homes.
It made practical business sense for SLH to acquire these homes. SLH has recently been identified as the lead housing association in South Liverpool and this acquisition will improve service delivery to residents by offering a more localised service.
Julie Fadden, chief executive of SLH said "As a group we are committed to supporting the TSA's call for the wider rationalisation of housing stock which will in turn improve services to tenants."
"We are really pleased to have acquired these properties, it is right for the tenants, Arena Housing and us. By offering the tenants a more localised service, we can respond efficiently on issues such as repairs and anti social behaviour."
Previously, SLH managed these 17 properties on behalf of Arena Housing.
Dave Litherland, Arena Housing Group Partnership Director said "Arena has been leading on stock rationalisation for over five years now and this is now our fourth transfer within Liverpool under the City's LIFE model. We are pleased to support SLH in delivering services to residents in Garston and will continue to look at further opportunities within Liverpool to support delivering services tailored to local residents needs." |
