LMH's Safer Estates Team's work that sees offenders working full-time in the community to repay their debt beat competition from more than 300 entries to win for the coveted Housing Heroes 'Frontline Housing Team of the Year' award.
The Housing Heroes Awards recognised the all round success of LMH's Intensive Community Payback scheme which has resulted in 50 per cent reduction in the number of reports of anti-social behaviour in North Liverpool compared to the three months before.
The project has been sucessfully delivered by LMH in partnership with a variety of organisations including Liverpool's innovative Community Justice Centre, the Probation Service, Merseyside Police, the Westminster Estate Tenants and Residents Association (WETRA) and the Council's North Neighbourhood Management Service.
Tenants say they feel safer in their homes and now have a renewed sense of community spirit.
Chief Executive of LMH, Steve Coffey, said: "Very rarely does one scheme provide so many fantastic all-round benefits to neighbourhoods like the Intenstive Community Payback Scheme and it is pleasing this has been recognised.
"The project has resulted in tenants feeling more secure in their homes, communities becoming safer and offenders being rehabilitated, which means they are unlikely to transgress in the future and the neighbourhood can continue to improve.
"It is important to thank all our staff, tenants and many partners involved in delivering the scheme and this award is down to their hard work."
Earlier this year the Intensive Community Payback scheme won the Best Local Initiative title at the Liverpool Citysafe Awards and the regional Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) Connecting People Award.
On Wednesday, LMH won the Partnering Scheme of the Year award with contractor the Kinetics Group at the Housing Excellence Awards.
LMH won the Partnering Scheme of the Year title in partnership with asset and facilities management services specialist, the Kinetics Group at the annual Housing Excellence Awards.
LMH and the Kinetics Group's work to deliver a more extensive range of improvements, repairs and maintenance in tenants' homes was recognised by judges. Instead of completing work to the Government's Decent Homes Standard, the partnership introduced a range of measures to increase the quality level to the 'LMH Standard'.
Initiatives such as intense tenant consultations through regular open days, the creation of tenant groups, the introduction of health and safety road shows and designated tenant liaison officers to provide regular updates and manage enquiries, have all made a huge difference to tenants experiencing LMH's £380 million improvement programme.Together, the two organisations have given 250 days of training sessions and sponsored and supported over 50 community projects.
The work puts tenants' welfare at the forefront and has resulted in the creation of modern, sustainable neighbourhoods that are tackling fuel poverty issues with huge reductions in bills from £800 to £236 a year. The partnership has also boosted the local economy and workforce with 77 per cent of the 989 people employed to carry out the regeneration work coming from the Liverpool area.Together, a range of apprenticeships have been made available as well as over 50 training opportunities by engaging in the Future Jobs Fund.
LMH Chief Executive, Steve Coffey, said: "Winning this award is yet more evidence of the exceptional work our staff and partners carry out with the sole aim of improving tenants' lives. "We are very committed to delivering the best housing possible but more than that, we are delivering sustainable communities that encourage people to thrive, prosper and have pride in their neighbourhoods and homes."
LMH's Supported Housing Team was shortlisted in the Tenant Care Programme of the Year award. |
