Hyde invests invests in rural housing

Successful partnership working by HydeMartlet (a part of The Hyde Group) and the Hampshire Alliance for Rural Affordable Housing (HARAH) has resulted in two brand new affordable housing developments that will enable local people with connections to Monxton and Grateley to remain in these rural villages close to families and friends.

"Housing in rural areas tends to be very expensive and people are priced out of the market. This sometimes leads to the breakdown of rural communities as more locals are forced to move to towns and cities.

"We're confident the two developments at Monxton and Grateley will make a tremendous difference to peoples' lives," says HydeMartlet Development Manager, Chris Buchan-Hepburn.

The developments, which consist of a total of 10 houses, were made possible with grant funding of £780,000 from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and support from the Test Valley Borough Council.

They represent HARAH's 11th and 12th completed developments in rural Hampshire and the 4th and 5th in Test Valley.

"Affordable housing is a high priority for Test Valley Borough Council and we welcome these homes for local people," says Councillor Sandra Hawke, Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health & Communities for Test Valley Borough Council, "We have some excellent rural schemes as a result of the HARAH partnership and we enjoy a strong working relationship with HydeMartlet. We look forward to the delivery of many more affordable rural housing schemes."

The Monxton development consists of two-2 bed houses and two 3-bed houses and in Grateley there are two-3 bed houses and four-2 bed houses. All homes achieve the environment standard Ecohomes 'Very Good'.
