Housing associations bring residents together in Maldon district
|
| Thursday 1st December 2011 |
A group of housing providers comprising Moat, Colne Housing Society Ltd, Estuary Housing Association Ltd, Salvation Army Housing Association, L&Q,South Anglia Housing Ltd, CHP and Moat East Residents Association (MERA) are working in partnership to bring residents together within the Maldon district. The aim of the partnership is to create a social housing
residents' forum for the area, and a working partnership at the MERA Resource Centre in Maldon.
The partnership has been successful in obtaining funding from Essex Adult Community Learning. This will fund training, provided by Voluntary Sector Training, to build residents' confidence and skills to enable them to contribute effectively and truly make a difference. The forum will enable residents to work together and raise 'one voice' on housing issues which concern or affect them. It will also provide a service in the Resource Centre which is delivered by residents for residents of all the landlords and the wider community.
Each of the organisations involved would like to recruit residents to join this exciting new partnership. They would like to hear from anyone interested in becoming a member of the forum, or a volunteer at the Resource Centre.
If you think you could help make a difference to residents in the Maldon district, please contact Nicola Syder, Community Development Officer at Moat
on 01621 876549, nicola.syder@moat.co.uk or 07984 070585. Alternatively contact your housing provider and speak to your community development
officer.
