Michael Bester has been named Homes for Haringey’s Employee of the Year 2009 following the organisations 3rd annual staff awards held on Thursday (25 June). He was commended with over 50 staff nominated across the Employee, Team, New Starter, Apprentice, Manager and Special Achievement award categories.
The nominees were all treated to a three course lunch and entertainment at the Mosaica restaurant in Wood Green where the awards ceremony was held. Hosts for the afternoon were Chief Executive, Paul Bridge and Board vice-chair, Anton Shelupanov.
Since joining the organisation in October 2006, Michael has been an outstanding senior officer within the Home Ownership Team, he says,“It was a complete surprise but very flattering. It is a reflection on the hard work that every member of the Home Ownership team does on a daily basis. I’m very proud to accept this award.”
The ‘Door Knocking’ team led by Project manager Bibi Khan, and administrator Louise Britton were winners in the Special Achievement Award, given to staff for making a ‘major contribution’ to the organisation. Bibi and Louise successfully co-ordinated an extensive borough wide door knocking project. This exercise saw over 650 staff visiting all 21,000 homes managed by Homes for Haringey, on behalf of the council, to gather the views of tenants and leaseholders on the services provided.
The highest ever response rate has been recorded with over 5,000 households completing the survey by post or in person. Bibi said,“It wouldn’t have been possible to complete this mammoth project or to win this award without the efforts and commitment of staff across the organisation. This project has been challenging, inspiring and rewarding. It demonstrates Homes for Haringey’s commitment to our residents and customer services.”
Paul Bridge, Chief Executive, added,“Staff awards are a great way to say thanks, motivate, inspire and encourage colleagues and managers. All the staff nominated deserved to win.”
Other winners included: Team of the year; Financial Services, New starter of the year, Craig Sheridan, Manager of the year, Sharon Morgan and Apprentice of the year, Ryan Mattis. |
