Helena Partnerships is celebrating after clinching a prestigious National Housing Design Award for its Heald Farm Court extra care development in St Helens.
The awards ceremony took place in Westminster recently, where Heald Farm Court was announced as the first ever winner of an award to recognise best practice in providing age- The development, which was designed by Liverpool-based DK Architects and built by Cruden Construction, was completed towards the end of last year and offers quality accommodation for the over 55's, with on-site care support as and when it is required.
The £12.5 million extra care development offers residents independent living, combined with access to 24 hour care and support, as and when they need it, provided by MHA Care Heald Farm Court was identified as a benchmark development in providing affordable housing solutions for an ageing population.
A report by HAPPI (Housing Our Ageing Population Panel for Innovation) - which gathers good practice in older people's housing - recognised key design elements of Heald Farm Court in providing flexible and sustainable accommodation with care-ready packages to adapt to residents changing needs.
The HAPPI panel, which visited the very best schemes for older people across Europe, includes star of television's 'How Clean is your House?', Aggie MacKenzie, who officially opened Heald Farm Court last month.

A purpose-built extra care scheme, Heald Farm Court boasts attractive apartments and bungalows, alongside landscaped gardens, a bistro, hairdressers, gym, communal area,
laundry facilities and health and well-being centre, as well as a mobility scooter store and There are now just a few apartments and bungalows left available on a shared ownership.
