The meeting formed part of the largest tenant consultation ever. The TSA's National Conversation is giving social housing tenants the opportunity to have their say about the issues that affect them, such as anti-social behaviour or repairs and maintenance. The Tenant Services Authority, is holding a series of 'National Conversation' events across the country to listen the views of tenants across the country about what they think of their landlords, and what areas of service are most important to them.
Catherine Purdy, Chief Executive of Housing Hartlepool said,"I am pleased that Hartlepool residents have had the opportunity to talk directly to the head of the TSA. It is important that their views are heard, not only locally, but to help inform and shape the national agenda.
"It is quite something for our tenants to be the first to have a joint meeting with two of the country's most influential people in the world of housing."
Tenant Services Authority Chief Executive Peter Marsh said,"I've enjoyed talking to residents of Hartlepool as part of our National Conversation with tenants.
"Only by understanding what matters most to tenants today and tomorrow can we at the TSA ensure we help raise the standards in the areas that matter most.
"The feedback we get will help to form our new standards which landlords will be expected to meet. These standards come into effect at the end of the year."
Iain Wright said,"The Tenant Services Authority has been established to champion tenants' needs and raise the standard of housing. I want people in Hartlepool who live in social housing to have the best possible deal, and to make sure that their views and wishes are known.
"That is why the TSA is so important, and why I am delighted that the boss of the TSA has decided to come to the town to listen directly to what tenants of Housing Hartlepool have to say. This is a great coup for the town."
Tenants and prospective tenants of housing association, councils, co-ops and ALMOs are all invited to take part in the TSA's National Conversation between now and the end of March. |
