| Friday 13th November 2009 |
A Midlands charity which houses the homeless will celebrate its 50th birthday next week with a football tournament for its staff and clients.
Fry Housing Trust, which has its head office in Rowley Regis, will mark its 50th anniversary with 5-a-side football tournament next Monday (16th) in Warwick.
The competition will see teams of Fry clients from across the Midlands battle it out against staff and even the Trusts' board members to claim a trophy. Runners up will be given certificates and food and drink will also be provided for the hungry competitors.
Rob Donath, Chief Executive of Fry Housing Trust, said: "We've been helping homeless people and those experiencing an unsettled way of life now for 50 years - something we are very proud of.
"We asked our clients how they would like to mark the milestone and they suggested a football tournament as its fun and everyone can get involved.
"Our clients and staff have been busy putting their teams together so I'm sure it will be a great competition to watch."
Fry Housing Trust was set up in memory of Margery Fry, a social justice campaigner, in 1959. It is committed to working in partnership to offer choices and chances to people experiencing an unsettled way of life.
The Trust is part of the Accord Group, a family of seven organisations which work together to provide 11,000 homes and a of range services, including Care & Support, to about 40,000 people across the Midlands and beyond. |
