Festive cheer swept over the Springbank Community Centre in Hester's Way in Cheltenham on Saturday 5th December.
Staff from leading housing provider Sanctuary Shaftesbury took on the role of Santa and his helpers as they entertained residents, bringing the community together with their own brand of Christmas spirit.
Over 350 people attended the hugely popular event, which was part of Sanctuary's 'Conversation with Residents' to discuss what they think about the services provided by Sanctuary and ways in which they could be improved.
The day was run in partnership with the Hester's Way Neighbourhood Project, a not-for-profit organisation, which provides a range of services to people living and working in a number of housing schemes on the west side of Cheltenham.
As well as Santa and his helpers, there was a variety of entertainment on the day including face painting, marshmallow toasting, an arts and crafts stall and a raffle to win £40 worth of vouchers, provided by Sanctuary.
Community development officer Peter Brierley proved extremely popular as Father Christmas prompting Caron from the Hester's Way Neighbourhood Project to say:
"A huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Claus. You were so good, you could be in great demand!! Thank you so much to everyone at Sanctuary for all your support."
Izzy Eveson said: "It was a really fun day and the children really believed that Peter was the real Santa. Some were so thrilled to meet him that they burst into tears!
"Overall, it was a brilliant day and everyone I spoke to said how pleased they were to be able to attend such an event." |
