Derby Homes is awarded Silver

Thursday 5th August 2010
Derby Homes have just been awarded a Silver Government Quality Mark for their Workplace Giving scheme.

Despite a difficult economic climate, employees at the housing organisation have bucked the trend as more of them are giving to charity, straight from their pay.

The Silver Quality Mark is awarded to organisations that offer and actively promote Workplace Giving to their employees and have over 5% of their workforce donating through their pay.

Phil Davies of Derby Homes said, "We are really pleased with the way our employees have responded to the scheme. It allows each member of staff to nominate a charity that is personal to them and they are now raising almost £2,000 a year with over 5% of staff taking part. Staff also raise money for charity in other ways for our chosen staff charity The Alzheimer's Society".

Peter O'Hara of Workplace Giving UK the organisation helping Derby Homes to promote the scheme said,"Well done to the employees at Derby Homes. During these tough times it is really important to ensure that it is made easy for employees to give to the charities they care about in a tax efficient way".
