Colne Housing Society Looks To The Future
|
| Tuesday 2nd August 2011 |
Colne Housing Society, the Essex based housing association, has recently announced its plans for the next five years.
As a result of a successful bid to the Homes and Communities Agency, Colne has managed to attract significant grant funding which means it can plan with confidence to build over 500 homes to meet pressing housing need in Essex. Furthermore, over the next five years the society will invest over £10 million in its existing properties to ensure that they are improved and maintained to the highest standard, are energy efficient and effective to heat.
As a community focused organisation, Colne is well placed to take forward aspects of the "Big Society‟ agenda, and will be working with colleagues in the public, not-for-profit and private sectors on these issues. In particular, it will be looking at ways of tackling financial exclusion, support employment and maximise the use of community buildings.
The society also intends to build on the positive relationship it already has with its customers - resident satisfaction is in the top 10% nationally - by obtaining Customer Excellence Accreditation.
Over the five year period Colne will be investing over £75 million in the local area to make sure it achieves its ambition of being a resident focused housing association, making a positive difference to the neighbourhoods in which it works. |
