Children show of their walk of art

| Tuesday 20th September 2011 |
Children and residents in Liverpool have transformed a dull and dirty under-path into a work of art as part of a summer project.
A new Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH) tenants' and residents' association called Positive Change Solutions worked with 19 children aged between five and 16 and local residents to create a colourful mural in the Mill Lane area of Wavertree.
The Positive Change Solutions association, which is funded by LMH through its Community Initiative Fund, commissioned community artist Fred Biddulph to direct the work and help youngsters with the project.
LMH contractor Mitie Property Services painted the walls white to create a blank canvas, with LMH providing the paint, brushes and refreshments during the project.
Chair of Positive Change Solutions, Andrew Chambers, said: "It has been great working with the children and residents on this project, we are looking forward to making more murals like this in the future and any other projects that the community want to get involved with.
"We welcome people to get involved to improve the area and invite people to come and have a look at the under-path and see what has been produced."
LMH Chief Executive, Steve Coffey, said: "The fantastic art work created on the under-path leading from the Mill Lane flats to Wellstead Walk epitomises the importance of our Community Initiative Fund.
"The work has seen LMH and one of our contractors helping a tenants' and residents' association to engage and empower local people to improve their community."
Director of Mitie Property Services, James Tattan, said: "It is a pleasure to work with the community on projects like this and shows that with a bit of imagination and working together, we can improve the environment and our neighbourhoods, making them brighter places to live."
LMH allocates grants through its Community Initiative Fund to develop projects that will benefit tenants and the surrounding neighbourhoods, helping to make communities more sustainable and desirable places to live and work. |
