Chair wins Prestigious Award

Berneslai Homes chairman Suzy Brain England OBE won the prestigious Non Executive Director of the Year Award at the Yorkshire and Humber region Director of the Year Awards 2009, held at the Queens Hotel Leeds on the 10th September.

Suzy has a portfolio of public sector appointments, which this year won her an OBE for public service in the Queen’s birthday honours list. Suzy has been chair of the board since 2007 and in June this year Berneslai Homes were awarded a three star excellent rating with excellent prospects for improvement from the Audit Commission. This is the second time in two year’s that Suzy was shortlisted for the Non Executive Director award and her portfolio, as well as Berneslai Homes, includes acting chair of Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust and chair of the Department of Works and Pensions decision making standards committee.
