COME AND VIEW NEW HOSTEL
|
| Thursday 5th August 2010 |
A NEW homeless hostel will officially be declared open on Tuesday, August 10 – and you are being invited to have a look around.
Boston Mayflower’s hostel in North Street for single homeless people already houses some residents and has been in demand over the past few weeks.
The hostel features accommodation and support, including eight fully furnished rooms for single homeless people.
Mayflower received funding for the project from Lincolnshire County Council’s Supporting People scheme.
Boston Mayflower’s Community Initiatives Team Leader Bev Chapman said: “The official open day will feature appearances from many local organisations, all of which help people who have various needs within the community.
“Women’s Aid, Addaction, the South Lincs CVS, Credit Union and Lincolnshire Action Trust will all be present.
“Come along on the day and get some useful advice, or just have a look around the hostel.”
The hostel provides its residents with assistance in life skills, such as cooking, careers, education and budgeting - and help in securing permanent self-contained accommodation in the future.
Everyday, people become homeless for many reasons including family breakdown, loss of employment, debt or ill-health.
Since it was founded 10 years ago Boston Mayflower has built a strong reputation in the local area for providing affordable housing and giving support to vulnerable people.
