Axiom HA - 'Rasen' the ladder to new job heights

Friday 23rd January 2009
At a time when job security is at a premium, a new totally free project is being run from Market Rasen Foyer which will enhance the chances of unemployed adults to securing work.

Starting this month, anyone aged over 19 years, and living in the Market Rasen and/or surrounding areas, will be able to access a free 12 week course to develop themselves and their confidence as well as knowledge and experience.

The Future Focus Project is being run on Tuesday and Thursday's at The Foyer which has been funded by the European Social Fund through the local county council.

Kelly Ventham, one of the Axiom course leaders said: "This is an exciting opportunity for unemployed people aged 19 and over to get their foot on the jobs ladder by gaining confidence, work experience and identifying training".

"The aim is to focus on exactly what each individual wants to achieve, and best of all it is all totally free of charge".

Lindsay Moulds, Manager of Market Rasen Foyer, added: "As well as direct job search benefits like establishing work experience, interview assistance and travel support, work placements as well as identifying opportunities, the confidence-building programme will also help people to overcome obstacles such as drink or drug dependency or transfer problems and benefits advice".

"The first programme starts this month and will operate from The Foyer at 32 King Street in Market Rasen".

"We welcome anyone over 19 who lives in the locality of Market Rasen on a first come first served basis. Up to four candidates can be taken each day giving support to eight people in each programme".

Businesses are also being encouraged to step forward and offer volunteer placements. Although completion of the project does not give a recognised qualification, individuals will gain the confidence and skills needed to begin work and continue their learning.
