Audit Commission Rate SLH's Prospects for Improvement as Excellent
|
| Tuesday 28th September 2010 |
Liverpool landlord South Liverpool Housing (SLH) has been given the highest possible score for its future prospects for improvement by the independent Audit Commission.
The watchdog produced its final report on Thursday 8th July following a short notice inspection of the landlord's services in January this year. They assessed SLH as having 'excellent prospects for improvement' and are the first housing association in Merseyside to achieve this accolade.
The Audit Commission monitors the performance of housing associations across the country through short notice inspections where landlords are just given 7 days notice. The inspection rates the current services provided by the landlord and the prospects of success in the future. The first report revealed that SLH has 'more strengths than weaknesses' in the services it delivers to tenants. The report praised the speed in which the landlord completes repairs, the high standards of gas safety and the measures in place to ensure tenants get the benefits and money advice they need.
The Audit Commissions final report which judges the landlords prospects for improvement says "The organisation has a clear vision and strong leadership. The organisation responded effectively to the inspection by involving its active customers in developing an improvement plan to address our recommendations and by setting up a system, which also involves customers, to manage the plan's implementation. The plan is comprehensive, SMART and outcome-focused. "
Commenting on the results Julie Fadden, Chief Executive of South Liverpool Housing said "We are extremely proud of this result. The 'excellent' judgement differentiates us from other conventional housing associations and we will do everything in our power to deliver on that pledge and give our tenants the world class services that they deserve. Our recent tenant survey tells us that 85% are satisfied with the services they receive and they are noticing real improvements in their homes and neighbourhoods." |
