Affordable homes building begins at London regeneration scheme
|
| Wednesday 25th August 2010 |
Building work has begun to create 30 new homes for shared ownership at the Beavers Lane regeneration project in Hounslow, west London.
The £4.4 million development from housing provider A2Dominion forms part of a wider regeneration project on the site. The first phase of 23 homes for shared ownership (part-buy part-rent) is due to complete in summer 2011, whilst the second phase of a further seven shared ownership apartments is set to be finished early 2012.
The regeneration project as a whole will see a total of 190 new properties built, including homes for affordable rent and private sale. The Beavers Lane site was previously home to four blocks of housing, which were demolished earlier this year due to extensive structural problems.
A2Dominion is working on the regeneration project with Hounslow Homes, the London Borough of Hounslow and United House. A2Dominion was awarded grant funding of £1.65 million from the Homes & Communities Agency.
David Price, A2Dominion’s Regeneration Director, said: “We’re pleased that building work is under way on our shared ownership apartments. These new affordable homes will help to meet housing need in Hounslow, being aimed at local people who want to get on the property ladder but cannot afford to buy a home on the open market. The shared ownership homes play an important part in the regeneration project, which will deliver a range of housing options.” |
