Adullam Resident Secures Full Time Post
|
| Friday 6th May 2011 |
Adullam Homes Housing Association Ltd resident Kevin Riley has secured the role of Support Worker with Adullam after successfully completing matt25, an innovative work and training programme developed and run by the Housing Association.
Matt25 is a social enterprise scheme provided by Adullam to support, train and mentor their residents and service users through a period of training and work experience to maximise their employment opportunities. Kevin is the first resident to secure employment through the programme and it is hoped that more will soon follow.
Many of the graduates, who obtained NVQ level 2 qualifications upon completion of the course, have now started relief work for Adullam until substantive posts become available. Graduates of matt25 have the opportunity to go on to full time employment in all disciplines of Housing including IT, Admin, Maintenance, Support work, Human Resources, Finance and Development.
Director of Business Development Steve Woods said "we are thrilled to have Kevin on board at Adullam and his appointment is a real testament to the commitment of both the matt25 staff and Kevin himself".
Using feedback and knowledge gained from the first matt25 graduates, staff have developed and improved the training programme and it has now been launched in various locations throughout the country including Liverpool, Congleton, Buxton and the West Midlands. It is hoped that matt25 will eventually become an independent subsidiary of Adullam and expand into the open market, enabling them to provide staff for Housing Associations and related organisations nationwide.
Chief Executive Trevor Palfreyman said "the whole focus for Adullam is social enterprise. The matt25 programme has been developed to provide our residents with access to employment, which in turn will make them socially mobile. The re-training of our residents and creation of new posts stimulates the local job market, reduces unemployment and benefits the local economy".
